Demand a proper review of Adani's water scheme

Adani have just been given a special deal to suck 12.5 billion litres of water EVERY YEAR from the Suttor River for its Carmichael coal mine, without proper scrutiny.

The Federal Environment Minister has decided not to apply the "water trigger" to the project, a special tool designed to assess the impacts of mining on precious water resources. Minister Price is allowing Adani to drain our water without proper oversight from scientists.

Adani is already being investigated by government for illegally drilling into Queensland groundwater at its mine site. Drought-stricken Queensland can’t afford to pour its precious water into a coal mine that will exacerbate climate change and drought.

Can you ask Environment Minister Melissa Price to reverse her decision and require a proper assessment of Adani's water scheme?

  • You can use our letter as a guide, but we encourage you to use your own wods -- personalised messages have a much greater impact!
  • Don't know what to write? Explain why you want the federal Minister for Environment to require that Adani conducts a full environmental impact assessment to extract 12.5 billion litres of water from the Suttor River for its Carmichael coal mine.
  • Let the Minister know why this issue mattes to your personally. You might want to mention that Queensland is currently facing one of its worst droughts in recorded history. And that Adani are currently under investigation for illegally drilling into groundwater at their mine site. Adani can not be trusted to look after Queensland's precious water.
  • Be polite!
